Cho Oyu (8201m), Tibet

Skiing off the summit of Cho Oyu.First American male to ski off the summit of an 8000m mountain.

Cho Oyu is settled in the Himalayas between Shishapangma and Mount Everest. At a height of 26,906 feet (8,201meters), more than 3,000 feet above the "death zone," Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world.

The trip objective was to ski and snowboard the peak via the original route.  The team consisted of John Griber, Doug Stoup and myself.

Both John and Doug returned home early due to external circumstance and on October 1, 2002 I became the first American male to ski off the summit of an 8000m mountain.
